I remember the first time i learned what a walkdown was. It was just a passing bass note in between G and Em but something inside of me resonated with that simple transition. The song wrote itself, and then rewrote and rewrote and rewrote itself for about 10 years! As I learned and grew the song evolved until it finally sounded like the thing i’d always wanted to create but didn’t have the skills to pull off. Produced independently and with local artists I’m really happy to share the final version of Unintedned Consequences and one of the first things I ever wrote…that i didn’t throw away 😉

When I was in my early twenties I visited a bar for an open mic night in Lake Charles. I met a guy named Barney who was a blues player from Oklahoma in town for plant work. We hit it off over a mutual love of music and proceeded to tie one on until maybe 2 in the morning. He ended up back at my place where we jammed for like 3 hours. Somewhere in there he was hammering on a heavy E Blues riff and i started singing, “Woke up this morning! With a girl in my bed!”

The next day those lines stuck in my head and i knew there was a story wanting to be told. I worked on this piece for many years until taking it to Studio 101 Nola and finishing it with a stellar crew. They bought in to the vision and helped turn it into a finished piece of music. It’s a folk blues jam with a little Louisiana flavor. I hope you enjoy!
